the family car solution to rising gas prices
While driving on the freeway during the past weekend, I found myself looking at gas prices. "That one is cheaper than the last, should I stop or should I keep going because the next one may be cheaper" is what was going through my head. I drive an SUV, whose estimated miles per gallon, in my opinion, were misstated on the sticker price. It costs between, $60-$70 to fill it up, and that definitely hurts the bottom line. My wife an I have a 13 month old boy, and we need a bigger car to travel with him, but gas prices these days are so high that we often talk about getting a smaller car. We do have a sedan but there is limited trunk space and it has a V6. ...So what are the options? We found the answer......READY....... The station wagon! These things have been hiding behind the scenes ever since the minivan and the SUV dominated the family car market. They have the space of a small SUV, weigh significantly less and you can get one without a large gas guzzling engine. There are many out there developed by makers who had never given up hope on them (cheer!) And don't worry about style because there are many stylish wagons. I personally like the BMWs, but there are several more to chose from. So let me be the first to promote the station wagon as the family solution for increasing gas prices. You read it here! Please keep in mind that, as with any other big ticket purchase, do your research first.
